While I enjoy plein air painting in pastels, oils and watercolor, it is drawing that helps me capture everyday objects, people and natural scenes. As an artist, I need to practice my craft every day, to see shapes in values, difference in hues of color and light, and compositions in the simplicity of things. That’s why I carry a sketch book wherever and whenever I step out of my house. When I use this tool daily, I sharpen my ability to take what I see to paper, canvas or fabric. I move my art from recording what I see, to sharing what I feel.
